May 2011

Brian Fletcher was quoted in an article posted on the National Federation of Independent Business’ (NFIB) website.  The article, “You May Need a Patent to Protect Your Small Business’ Big Idea,” discusses that intellectual property may be the only asset owned by start-ups and growing businesses and should be protected.

November 2010

On November 4-5, The Fletcher Law Firm was again selected to provide one-on-one consultation services for participants at the 15th Annual Independent Inventors Conference, co-sponsored by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and the National Inventors Hall of Fame® Foundation. The conference was held in Alexandria, VA at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office campus.

July 2010

On July 26-27, The Fletcher Law Firm will be participating in the American Intellectual Property Law Association’s (AIPLA) 14th Annual Patent Cooperation Treaty Seminar in Alexandria, VA.

On July 17-20, The Fletcher Law Firm will be participating in the National Association of Patent Practitioners Annual Membership Meeting and 2010 Patent Practice Update in Alexandria, VA.

April 2010

On April 21, The Fletcher Law Firm will be participating in the 20th Anniversary OSDBU Procurement Conference 2010 in Chantilly, VA.  This event is a national conference fostering business partnerships between the Federal Government, its Prime Contractors, and small, minority, service-disabled veteran-owned, veteran-owned, HUBZone and women-owned businesses.

On April 7-10, The Fletcher Law Firm will be participating in the 25th Annual Intellectual Property Law Conference of the ABA’s Section of Intellectual Property Law in Arlington, VA.

On April 7, The Fletcher Law Firm will be participating in the USPTO’s Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences First Annual Conference in Alexandria, VA at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office campus.

March 2010

March 22-26:  Meetings with clients in Hilton Head, SC, Charleston, SC and Savannah, GA.

On March 18, The Fletcher Law Firm will be participating in the Veterans In Business Conference to be held at the Army Navy Country Club in Arlington, VA.

On March 9, The Fletcher Law Firm will be participating in Congressman Jim Moran’s 10th Annual Federal Procurement Conference at George Mason University’s Arlington, VA campus.

February 2010

February 26:  Armed Forces Communications & Electronics Association, Northern Virginia Chapter (AFCEA NOVA) monthly luncheon featuring Ms. Elizabeth A. “Beth” McGrath, Assistant Deputy Chief Management Officer & Performance Improvement Officer, U.S. Department of Defense (DoD).

On February 23, The Fletcher Law Firm will be participating in “Tactics to Success… A Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business Workshop for the Naval Air Systems Command’s Marketplace” presented by the Patuxent Partnership and the Naval Aviation Small Business Roundtable.

October 2009

On October 14, The Fletcher Law Firm was selected to participate in the first focus session on interview practice at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).  As stated by Director David Kappos, “an interview can help the examiner and the applicant get to the heart of the patentability determination quickly and efficiently.”   This focus session was designed to solicit feedback from both attorneys and examiners to determine how interview practice can be further improved.

Also on October 14, The Fletcher Law Firm participated in the Partnering in Patents XVI Seminar at the USPTO.  This seminar is designed to provide an open dialogue between the USPTO and the patent bar on topics of mutual interest.
